“Longing: The Singles” was written over the long courtship between me and my wife, and tells not just the story of our love, but of my struggle to come closer to the right spiritual path. This was a tumultuous time in my life when all of my priorities shifted and I began to truly realize that I had been put on earth for a reason. Several of the songs on this album were composed, recorded, and shipped overnight to my wife in an effort to keep her close to me, while a close listening also reveals an equally urgent need to keep God close to me, as well. In a sense, the album chronicles two tandem love affairs—one of this earth, and one of another, more ethereal sphere.
